Michael graduated with a degree in Finance from Millsaps College in 1981 and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration in 1983 from the Else School of Management. He relocated to Florida in 1984 and to Naples in 1994, serving in senior leadership roles in wealth management for Florida National Bank and SunTrust until 2000. In 2000, Michael became president and CEO of First National Trust Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of FNB Corporation. During his tenure as CEO of First National Trust Company and as chairman of its two subsidiaries, First National Investment Advisors and First National Investment Services Company, assets under management grew from $300 million to $2.1 billion. In 2004, the Florida operations of FNB Corporation were spun off to shareholders and Michael became a member of the new banking company, First National Bankshares of Florida, executive committee, as well as continuing to be responsible for trust, investment services and private banking. First National was then acquired by Fifth Third Bancorp in January of 2005, with Michael continuing to lead the Investment Advisors business until January 2006. Michael brings over two decades of Florida banking experience, 13 years in Southwest Florida, as well as hands on trust leadership and development skills to Naples Capital Advisors.
John graduated with a degree in Finance from Auburn University in 1986, and began his financial services career that year with Drexel Burnham Lambert in Orlando, Florida. After earning a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University, John moved to Southwest Florida and spent the next nine years working for SunTrust Bank and Northern Trust Bank as a portfolio manager. During this period he earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst designation and later served as a director of the Naples Financial Analyst Society. In 2001, John accepted an executive level position with the A.I. duPont Trust in Jacksonville. As Director of Investments for the multi-billion dollar charitable trust, he was responsible for the public market component of the portfolio along with providing input on broader strategic investment issues. During his five-year tenure with the duPont Trust, John had direct oversight responsibility for the publicly traded equity and debt securities, including domestic and foreign markets, as well as active and passive mandates. John brings over two decades of financial and investment experience to Naples Capital Advisors.
Amy has lived in Naples for over 20 years. She graduated cum laude with a degree in Finance from Florida Gulf Coast University and soon thereafter began her career with First National Trust Company, a subsidiary of FNB Corporation. While with First National Trust Company, Amy gained acclaim for her attention to detail and for being especially responsive to the clients she served. In response to her clients varied financial needs and concerns, Amy began studying to become a Certified Financial PlanningTM Practitioner. She earned the certification in 2005 while concurrently attending the Florida Banker’s Association Trust School and Graduate Trust School, where she also obtained her Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation. In January of 2005, First National was acquired by Fifth Third Bancorp, and Amy continued in her relationship management capacity. She managed complex client portfolios totaling more than $988 million in assets under management. Throughout her tenure at Fifth Third, Amy was a founding committee member of the Fifth Third Bank Women’s Network and the Chair of the Women & Investing Sub-Committee. Amy brings a unique combination of technical skills and expertise along with a strong capability and commitment to quality personal service to the team of professionals at Naples Capital Advisors.
Paul graduated with a degree in Economics from Duke University. He joins Naples Capital Advisors having previously worked for Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Asset Management, and most recently Legg Mason Private Portfolio Group. In his previous role as an Associate Portfolio Manager, working closely with senior managers Paul was responsible for the oversight and trading of over $1 Billion in assets under management. He served as a member of the firm’s investment committee and participated in the coverage of various sectors. In addition, Paul was responsible for the design and implementation of the firms proprietary research database. He is a CFA Charterholder as well as a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts. Paul brings well-rounded experience, exceptional client service, and analytical insight to Naples Capital Advisors.
